BACK-TO-SCHOOL {PLANNING}

Friday, 21 August 2015
 It’s Back-to-School once again! Is it just me or did the summer fly by? It literally feels like the winter semester ended yesterday. On a positive note, there are still a few days of summer vacation left, so let’s make the most out of it! But let's not completely neglect the Back-to-School  preparations and organizations. Building an organization system prior to the beginning of classes is the best way to time-manage yourself. We all know how hectic our lives can get during school with homework, job schedules, fitness, family, cooking, sleeping, and all other things, therefore managing our tasks and time becomes crucial!

I have put together some resources that you can use to build a planning system.

One of the ways to organize yourself is to purchase an agenda. For scheduling my day, I personally use iCal but for school and work {detailed notations} I drop everything down in a weekly agenda. You may ask, why write when you can type...I'm sure you've heard it before, but it has been said that when we engage in writing instead of typing, we retain more information. I was reading an article by Cindi May who is a Psychology Professor at Charleston College. She is constantly at search to help improve "cognitive functions" in college students. In her latest article "A Learning Secret: Don’t Take Notes with a Laptop" May puts it this way, "Those who wrote out their notes by hand had a stronger conceptual understanding and were more successful in applying and integrating the material than those who used took notes with their laptops." (Cindi May, 2014) In other words, by writing down your deadlines and to-do's it will help your mind be alerted for what has to be done.

{How to start...}

I narrowed down my "Top Three" picks for most functional and aesthetically designed agendas.

1) First on the list is the Kate Spade 2016 17-MONTH LARGE AGENDA- GOLD DOTS
    {What I love about this agenda: The appealing golden design, spiral fabrication, tabs,
      visual organization, and the binding band}

You can purchase this on KateSpade.com or if you are Canadian you can purchase this at your local Chapters or Indigo. {It also comes in different prints and design}

2) Second on the list is the PosyPaper 2015/2016 custom weekly student planner.
    {What I love about this agenda: The unique floral design, spiral fabrication,
      visual organization, and weekly inspirational quotes}

You can purchase this directly from their Esty shop. {Click on the hyperlink}

3) Last but not least, we have the "Sage pink gold floral" 2015-2016 planner.
    {What I love about this agenda: {once again} the prints, spiral fabrication
    {Easy to handle}, visual organization and the integrated pouch in the back of
      the planner}

You can purchase this directly from their Esty Shop {Click on the hyperlink}

After choosing which agenda suits you best, start planning your days. Most of you have received your school schedule already, so use it as a guide to plan each day of the week. {Tip: Use colour coding for visual organization}

Here is an example of my old agenda...

It may look messy but it works for me... Hope it does for you as well!

There you have it....

Lastly, I have included a FREE PDF for homework scheduling. This is what I use to drop down my weekly homework and highlight them based on their priorities.
